Sharjah Book Fair Visa: 3 Smart Steps to a Stress-Free Trip
Sharjah Book Fair Visa: 3 Smart Steps to a Stress-Free Trip

On Wednesday, 4 November 2026, the 45th Sharjah International Book Fair opens at Expo Centre Sharjah. It runs for 12 days, until Sunday, 15 November. Flying in for it? Then sort out your Sharjah Book Fair visa first, because the rest of the trip depends on it.
The short answer is simple. Most readers, students and families need a standard UAE tourist visa. Publishers and exhibitors, however, may qualify for the newer Events Visit Visa through the organiser. This guide explains both and gives you a countdown from today, Monday 19 October.
Who are we? The team at SKY PALACE TOURISM L.L.C in Al Mankhool, Dubai. We are an independent visa support service, not part of the UAE government. Our job is to help travellers apply online, check their documents and track their visas.
What is happening at Expo Centre Sharjah this November?
The fair is organised by the Sharjah Book Authority. This year's theme is "Made of Stories", and Oman is the guest of honour. On 14 October, Gulf Today reported 2,673 publishers and exhibitors from 124 countries.
The same report also lists around 1,500 cultural and creative events. In addition, 106 writers, artists and thinkers from 25 countries are expected.
Trade visitors have extra dates to plan around. For example, the Publishers Conference runs from 1 to 3 November, before the public opening. After that, the ALA/SIBF Library Conference runs from 7 to 9 November. Both dates appear on the official Sharjah International Book Fair visitor page.
Khaleej Times reported on 13 October that free shuttle buses and more parking are planned. Opening hours and shuttle routes were not published when we checked today, so look again closer to your date.
Tourist visa or events visa: which one fits you?
This is the choice that matters most. Take a minute over it.
Readers, students and families
Most visitors come to browse, buy books and attend talks, so their needs are simple. For them, a tourist visa is the normal route. We offer 30-day and 60-day tourist visas, each with single or multiple entry.
A 30-day single-entry visa usually suits one trip built around the fair. Planning a side trip to Oman, this year's guest country? In that case, pick multiple entry so you can return.
Publishers, agents and exhibitors
In July 2026, GDRFA Dubai explained the Events Visit Visa introduced by ICP. It is a short-term permit tied to approved events, such as exhibitions and conferences. The organiser must get approval first and then request a quota of participants.
Eligible attendees then apply with a sponsorship letter. Stays are 30 or 60 days, as the LexisNexis summary of the GDRFA Dubai clarification explains. So if your trip involves business, ask the organiser which visa they recommend before you apply.
Your Sharjah Book Fair visa countdown from today
There are 16 days between today and opening day. Here is how we would use them.
| Date | What to do |
| Mon 19 to Sun 25 October | Check your passport, choose 30 or 60 days, and apply. |
| Sun 25 to Sat 31 October | Watch your email and track your application online. |
| Sun 1 to Tue 3 November | Publishers Conference. Trade visitors should already be in the UAE. |
| Wed 4 November | The fair opens to the public at Expo Centre Sharjah. |
| Sat 7 to Mon 9 November | ALA/SIBF Library Conference. |
| Sun 15 November | Final day of the fair. |
Why start this week? Processing depends on your nationality and the visa type, and weekends can slow things down. You can see current timings on our visa processing times page.
Short on time? Our rush visa service may help, although the final decision always rests with the UAE authorities. Also, if you buy flights before the visa arrives, choose a fare you can change.
Three smart steps we take before we submit
Most delays we see come from small things. These three come first on every file.
Six months left on your passport
The ICP visa issuance conditions say your passport must be valid for at least six months. We count from your arrival date to be safe. Make sure the photo page is clear and undamaged, too.
The 60-day entry window
ICP also says you must enter the UAE within 60 days of the visa being issued. That works in your favour this month. For example, a visa issued this week leaves plenty of room for a 4 November arrival.
Health insurance that covers the UAE
The same ICP page lists valid UAE health insurance as a condition for visit visas. People often miss this one, because a home policy may not cover the UAE. Ask your insurer for written proof before you fly. We checked these ICP rules on 19 October 2026.

Frequently asked questions
Can I visit Sharjah on a visa I applied for in Dubai?
Yes. A UAE tourist visa is for the country, not one emirate. So you can land in Dubai and travel to Sharjah by road.
Do I need a ticket for the book fair?
We found no entry fee on the official fair website today. The fair has been free for the public in past years, but confirm on the SIBF site before you travel.
Is a 30-day visa enough for the fair?
For most visitors, yes. The fair lasts 12 days, so a 30-day visa covers it with room to spare. Choose 60 days if you want to stay longer, for instance until UAE National Day on 2 December.
Can my children come with me?
Yes, and the fair has a large programme for children and young adults. Each child needs their own passport and visa. Apply for the whole family together, so the visas arrive at the same time.
Plan your book fair week now
Sixteen days is enough, but only if you start soon. Check your passport tonight and decide between 30 and 60 days. Then the books, the talks and the Omani programme can have your full attention.
When you are ready, apply for your Sharjah Book Fair visa online. Then our Al Mankhool team can handle the paperwork.
