Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Visa: Simple 6-Week Plan, Avoid Stress
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Visa: Simple 6-Week Plan, Avoid Stress

The 2026 Formula 1 season ends at Yas Marina Circuit, from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 December. Today is Wednesday 21 October, so that is six weeks away. If you need a visa for the race, the answer is simple. A normal UAE tourist visa covers it, because it is valid across the whole country.
That means you can land in Dubai, sleep in Dubai, and still reach the circuit. Below is a week-by-week plan. It shows when to apply, which visa type fits race week, and what our team checks before we file.
Who are we? We are SKY PALACE TOURISM L.L.C, based in Al Mankhool, Dubai. We are an independent visa support service, not a government office.
Race weekend dates to plan around
Formula 1 confirmed Abu Dhabi as the 2026 season finale. In addition, Gulf News reported the race weekend dates as 3 to 6 December. The main race is on Sunday 6 December.
Four-day ticket holders also get entry to the after-race concerts. So many fans book all four nights, not just Sunday.
One more date matters. UAE National Day, also called Eid Al Etihad, falls on Wednesday 2 December. That is the day before the race weekend starts. Expect celebrations and heavy demand for hotels, so book rooms early.
A small tip from our desk: always match your flights to the dates printed on your race ticket. Event listings sometimes differ by a day.
Do you need a visa for the race at all?
Not every fan does. Some passports get a visa on arrival or visa-free entry. However, that list changes from time to time.
Because of this, check your nationality on our visa requirements by nationality page before you pay for flights. It only takes two minutes, so do it first.
Many of the travellers who write to us come from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, the Philippines, Nigeria and Kenya. In our experience, most of them need a tourist visa before they fly. Still, check your own case rather than going by what a friend was told.
One thing surprises people. UAE embassies abroad do not issue tourist visas, as the UAE government portal explains. Instead, the visa is arranged inside the UAE, and you receive it by email.
When should you apply for your Abu Dhabi Grand Prix visa?
Sooner than most fans think. But there is also a reason not to apply months ahead.
The ICP visa issuance conditions say you must enter the UAE within 60 days of the permit being issued. So the visa has a clock running before you even land.
For example, a visa issued on Monday 26 October must be used by around Friday 25 December. That still covers race week with room to spare. In short, there is no benefit in waiting until late November.
The real risk is applying late. A blurry passport scan or a missing document can take days to fix. Race week leaves no room for that, because flights and hotels are already paid.
Your six-week countdown
| When | What to do |
| This week (by Sunday 25 October) | Check your passport is valid for at least six months. Then check whether your nationality needs a visa. |
| Late October | Buy race tickets and book flights. Next, keep a copy of your flight booking ready. |
| Early November | Apply for your tourist visa. Also scan your passport and photo clearly. |
| Sunday 15 November | Our suggested latest date to apply. After this, consider the express option. |
| Wednesday 2 December | UAE National Day. Arrive by now if you want the celebrations too. |
| Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 December | Race weekend at Yas Marina Circuit. |
| Before your stay ends | Leave the UAE, or ask us about an extension first. |
Processing times vary by nationality and season. For current estimates, see our visa processing times page. If your flights are already close, our rush visa service exists for that situation.
Single or multiple entry: which suits a race trip?
For most fans, a 30-day single-entry visa is enough. Race week plus a few days in Dubai fits easily inside it.
However, think about multiple entry if you plan to leave and come back. For instance, some visitors pop over to Oman or another Gulf country after the race. Then they return to Dubai for their flight home.
A single-entry visa is used up when you exit. A multiple-entry visa lets you come back in on the same visa, so you avoid a second application.
What about staying longer? If you want to stay on for New Year's Eve in Dubai, the 60-day visa makes more sense. Prices differ by nationality, so check the live visa fees page instead of trusting old screenshots.
Landing in Dubai, watching in Abu Dhabi
Your UAE tourist visa is not tied to one emirate. You can fly into Dubai International, stay in Dubai, and travel to Yas Island for each session.
Getting there is easier this year. According to Gulf News, Etihad Rail passenger trains began running between Dubai and Abu Dhabi on 30 September. The Dubai station is at Al
Yalayis, near Jumeirah Golf Estates.
Trains then reach Mohammed Bin Zayed City in about 57 minutes. From there, you still need a taxi or bus to Yas Island. So allow extra time on race day, when roads near the circuit get busy.
Carry your passport and a copy of your e-visa on these trips. Hotels ask for both, and it also saves trouble if anyone checks.
What does our team check before we submit?
Most delays we see come from small document problems, not from the traveller's profile. That is why we review every file first. Here is what we look at:
- Passport validity of at least six months, as ICP requires.
- A clear, recent colour photo with a plain light background.
- A full passport scan with all four corners visible and no glare.
- Your name spelled the same way on the passport, form and flight booking.
- A flight ticket or booking for your trip dates.
If something is wrong, we tell you before filing, so you can fix it at once. Even so, please remember one thing. Approval is decided by the UAE authorities, not by us or any other agent.
How to apply with us in four steps

Race visa questions travellers ask us
Can I use a Dubai visa to watch the race in Abu Dhabi?
Yes. A UAE tourist visa lets you travel between emirates, so Dubai to Yas Island is fine. Just keep your passport with you.
Does a Grand Prix ticket count as a visa?
No. Your ticket gets you into the circuit, but not into the country. You still need a visa unless your passport qualifies for visa on arrival.
Can I stay longer after the race?
Possibly. ICP rules allow visit visa extensions, but the total stay cannot go beyond 120 days. Extensions need approval, so contact us before your current visa ends.
What happens if my visa is declined?
The decision belongs to the UAE authorities. If it is declined, our money-back guarantee applies. You can read the details on our visa FAQs page.
