Dubai Shopping Festival 2026: 45 Days, 1 Easy Visa Plan

The dates are out. Dubai Shopping Festival 2026 opens on Friday, 4 December and closes on Sunday, 17 January 2027. That gives visitors 45 days of sales, raffles, concerts and fireworks, so there is time to plan. So the first visa question is simple: which part of the festival do you want to see?
This guide splits the season into three phases. For each one, we show which visit visa fits and when to apply. We also cover one timing rule that catches early planners, plus two airport rules every shopper should know.
What has been announced for Dubai Shopping Festival 2026?
The organiser, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), shared the dates in mid-October. TradeArabia's report on the 32nd edition lists the confirmed details so far.
- It is the 32nd edition, and it runs for 45 days.
- Returning favourites include DSF Nights, the Hatta programme, Auto Season and the MOTB market.
- A new beach venue, etisalat Beach Canteen, joins the festival for the first time.
- Malls will run citywide promotions, limited-time deals and raffles.
The full programme of concerts and shows is still to come. DFRE said it will share more details in the coming weeks. As of 24 October 2026, headline acts and fireworks times have not been published.
Three phases of the festival, and the visa each one fits
You do not need to stay for all 45 days. Instead, pick the stretch of the season that suits you. Here is how the festival breaks down.
| Phase | Dates | Good for | Visa to look at |
| Opening weeks | Fri 4 Dec to Wed 30 Dec 2026 | First sales, mall raffles, weekend shows | 30-day single entry |
| New Year's Eve | Thu 31 Dec 2026 | Fireworks and the busiest festival night | 30-day single entry |
| January programme | Fri 1 Jan to Sun 17 Jan 2027 | Final deals, MOTB, Auto Season | 30-day single entry, applied for later |
| Whole festival | 4 Dec 2026 to 17 Jan 2027 | Long family visits | 60-day visa |
Phase 1: the opening weeks
The opening falls just after UAE National Day on Wednesday, 2 December. Flights around a public holiday can fill early, so book yours soon. For a trip of two or three weeks, a 30-day visa is usually enough.
Phase 2: New Year's Eve
New Year's Eve sits in the middle of the festival. Hotels near Downtown and the Marina book up first, because the fireworks draw huge crowds. Therefore, secure your room before you pay for flights. Then apply for your visa with those dates in hand.
Phase 3: the January programme
January brings the last deals and the closing weekend on 16 and 17 January. However, January travellers face a special timing issue, which we explain next.
Why can applying too early be a problem?
Every visit visa has an entry deadline. According to the ICP visa issuance conditions, you must enter the UAE within 60 days of the visa's issue date. Your stay then counts from the day you land.
Here is what that means in practice. Say your visa is issued on 1 November. You would need to enter by the end of December. As a result, a January-only trip could miss that window.
So for a January trip, wait until about December to apply. For a December trip, November is a sensible time. Check our current processing times before you choose a date.
The same ICP page also lists the core documents. First, your passport must be valid for at least six months. Visit and tourist visas also need a return ticket. Some nationalities need more papers, so check the requirements for your nationality first.
Two shopper rules that have nothing to do with your visa
Travellers come to the festival to buy, and many fly home with heavy bags. That means two airport rules matter as much as the visa itself.
How do tourists get VAT back?
Visitors aged 18 or over can claim back part of the VAT they paid. The UAE government's tourist VAT refund page sets out the rules.
- Buy from a shop registered in the scheme, and spend at least AED 250.
- Keep the tax invoice and the goods with you until you leave, because they may be checked.
- Validate the purchase at the exit point within 90 days of buying.
- The refund is 85% of the VAT paid, minus AED 4.80 per tag.
Pack those items in your hand luggage. Also allow extra time at the airport for the refund check.
Carrying cash or gold above AED 60,000?
ICP asks travellers to declare cash, precious metals and stones worth over AED 60,000. This applies when you arrive and when you leave. The declaration is free and done through the Afseh app or website, as ICP's guidance on disclosing cash explains. So if you plan to buy gold, keep your receipts and add up the total before you fly.

Questions travellers ask us about the festival
Do I need a special visa for the shopping festival?
No, a standard tourist visit visa covers it. The festival has no visa of its own. However, concerts may need a separate ticket from the venue.
Can I leave the UAE and come back during the festival?
Yes, but you need a multiple-entry visa for that. A single-entry visa ends when you exit. For example, a side trip to Oman would need multiple entry.
What if my trip is booked at short notice?
We also offer an express visa option for urgent trips. Even so, apply as soon as your flight is fixed, because late December is busy.
Can our WhatsApp team check my dates?
Yes. Message us on WhatsApp at +971 52 681 4645, at any hour. We can tell you which visa suits your plan and when to apply.
Plan your visa around the phase you want
Pick your phase first, then book a room, and only then apply at the right moment. That order keeps your entry window safe. When you are ready, apply for your visit visa online and enjoy Dubai Shopping Festival 2026 without visa worries.
