Frieze Abu Dhabi: New Art Fair, 4 Days, Avoid Visa Mistakes

Frieze Abu Dhabi visa guide banner for the art fair at Manarat Al Saadiyat, 19 to 22 November 2026

Thursday 19 November 2026 is opening day. On that morning, the first Frieze Abu Dhabi fills Manarat Al Saadiyat with art from around the world. It runs until Sunday 22 November.

Planning to fly in for it? The short answer is good news. A standard UAE visit visa covers Abu Dhabi, so you do not need a separate permit for the capital. Below, our team explains what is new this year and what has not changed for visas. We also show which visa fits your trip length.

What changed this year, and what did not

What is new: Abu Dhabi Art becomes Frieze

For 17 years, the November art fair on Saadiyat Island was called Abu Dhabi Art. This year it takes the Frieze name instead. Frieze also runs well-known fairs in London, New York, Los Angeles and Seoul.

According to Frieze's announcement of its first Abu Dhabi line-up, 84 galleries are taking part. There is also a Frieze Masters section, which covers art from antiquity to the early 20th century. In addition, The National's report on the fair lists a Focus section for younger galleries and a talks programme.

What has not changed: the visa rules

The UAE's federal visa authority is ICP. As of Tuesday 27 October 2026, its news page shows no new tourist visa rule this month. So the conditions you read last summer still apply.

Those conditions are listed on the ICP visa issuance page. You must enter the UAE within 60 days of the visa being issued. Your passport needs at least six months of validity. You also need health insurance valid in the UAE, and a return or onward ticket.

Do you need a separate Abu Dhabi tourist visa?

No. UAE tourist visas are issued for the country, not for one emirate. Travellers often ask us for an "Abu Dhabi tourist visa". In fact, it is the same UAE visit visa they would use for Dubai.

Most of our travellers land at Dubai International and then drive or take a bus to Abu Dhabi. Saadiyat Island is well over an hour by road from Dubai, so allow plenty of travel time. If you would rather land at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi, tell us when you apply. Our team will then confirm that your visa suits that entry point.

Which visit visa fits your art trip?

November is busy across the UAE, and many art visitors stay on for other events. Your trip length decides the visa, so count your days first. The 30 or 60 days start from the day you enter, not from the day the visa is issued.

Your planRough lengthVisa that usually fits

The fair only (Thu 19 to Sun 22 Nov), plus a few days in DubaiAbout one week30 days, single entry
The fair, then UAE National Day on Wed 2 DecemberAbout two weeks30 days, single entry
The fair, then the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (3 to 6 December)About 18 days30 days, single entry
Arriving early November and staying past mid-DecemberOver a month60 days
The fair, a trip home, then back for Dubai Shopping Festival or New YearTwo separate visitsMultiple entry

Not sure about your dates yet? Pick the visa for the longest trip you might take. A shorter stay on a longer visa is fine, but overstaying a short one brings fines. You can compare the options on our visa fees page, because prices change by nationality and visa type.

Visa mistakes we see before art week

Treating a fair ticket as permission to enter

A Frieze ticket, a VIP card or a gallery invitation is not a visa. Immigration officers at the airport check your passport and visa, not your event pass. So sort the visa first and the tickets second.

Leaving the papers to the last week

The 60-day entry window gives you room. If your visa is issued today, you can still enter in late December. However, a blurry passport scan or an expired passport can delay a file by days. Apply early, then use the spare time to fix any document problem calmly.

Forgetting health insurance and the return ticket

Both appear in the ICP conditions, but travellers forget them more than anything else. Book a refundable return ticket if your plans may change. Then buy insurance that covers the UAE for your full stay.

Choosing 30 days for a winter-long stay

Many visitors decide on the spot to stay for National Day or the Grand Prix. That is fine on a 30-day visa for an 18-day trip. But a stay that stretches past a month needs a 60-day visa or an extension. ICP allows extensions, although the total stay cannot go past 120 days.

How to apply for your Frieze Abu Dhabi visit visa

We are Sky Palace Tourism L.L.C, an independent visa support service in Al Mankhool, Dubai. We are not part of the UAE government, and approval is always decided by the UAE authorities. Our job is to check your papers and file them correctly.

  1. Fill in the short form on our online visa application page. No payment is needed to start.
  2. Upload a clear passport copy and a recent photo. Our team then reviews them and tells you if anything needs fixing.
  3. Pay securely online once your documents are ready.
  4. Track progress on our visa status page, then receive your e-visa by email.

Cutting it close? Our express visa service is there for late plans. Also see the processing times page for current timings.

Questions art visitors ask us

Can I visit Abu Dhabi on a visa from a Dubai agency?

Yes, a UAE visit visa lets you travel between the emirates. There are no border checks between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Just carry your passport, because hotels ask for it at check-in.

When should I apply for the November fair?

Any day from now works with the 60-day entry window. Even so, we suggest applying in the first days of November at the latest. That leaves time to correct papers and still book flights at normal prices.

Are tickets for the fair on sale yet?

Check Frieze's own website for ticket news. In August, The National reported that prices would be announced later. We do not sell fair tickets, only visa support.

Does my nationality change anything?

Yes, it can. Some passports get a visa on arrival, while others need a visa before flying. Our visa requirements by nationality page shows what applies to you.

Book the art, then sort the visa
